we had family pictures taken in January, a few weeks before Katie came. the kids were extremely active and uncooperative, but we managed to get a few good shots. The last few are unedited. we gave Little Mac some candy for behaving, and then we took it away because he wasn't sharing and we wanted to try for another picture. The pictures we did get told a good story. enjoy!

Katherine Elaine Sigler came into the world on Thursday 26th of January 2012 at 11:22am. She was 8lbs 9oz, and 19 inches long. Delivery was very fast, and threw every one of our carefully laid plans out of wack.

I felt good enough to drive to the Doctor's office myself , to be checked, since I wasn't sure if I was having real contractions or if they were something else. I picked up Little Mac from preschool on the way, about 10:40ish am. When we got to the office, they had to fit me in, so we were out in the lobby for a little bit, where things started to get more intense, to the point that I couldn't sit down comfortably. Little Mac was well behaved thank goodness this entire time. When I was called back, the contractions were coming close enough that it was impossible to get an accurate blood pressure reading for me. I went to get a urine sample when my water broke . They heard me, since I couldn't help from making some noise at that point and they got me to the examining table and went to find the doctor. Little Mac was a trooper and concerned about me, enough to stop playing with the things in the room and stand next to me and ask "mommy?" while we were alone. Dr. Evens came in and checked me and said I was ready, that we had to go and to have the hospital ready with a wheelchair. The clinic took Little Mac, for me and told me they would call Mac while I was wheeled down the hallway and into Dr. Evan's car. He rushed me to the hospital, which is just a block away from the clinic, all the time telling me not to push. He help me through the contractions while we waited for the hospital staff and wheel chair. I was wheeled upstairs into the room where everything was set up and two minutes after I arrived at the hospital, Katie did as well.

I held her for a minute and then they took her to the infant warmer to clean her up while I was officially admitted along with all the questions and changing that goes with it. I changed from the shirt I had been wearing all morning to the nursing hospital gown and got Katie back. She had been very vocal the whole time. Mac came and took care of the paper work and phoned around the ward, working with the Relief Society to find someone to pick up the kids from the Doctor's office and watch them until my mom could come down. Everything settled down and we spent two days in the hospital, since there was no time to give me the medication for group B strep during labor and Katie needed to stay an extra day just to be safe.

We came home Sat. afternoon and we are all doing well. Katie has some jaundice, so she is tied down to a BiliBlanket until her daily tests indicate she can come off. This restructs her to our room in her bassinet or the rocking chair, which is slightly annoying, but its for a good cause. Little Mac loves to hold Katie, when I can take her in the living room, and Clara likes to look at her. They both get concerned when she cries.It will be nice when we can all be together in one room, even if it does mean I have to watch the toddlers don't go haywire over the baby.

We got our bags that first evening, and we were so out of sync, we forgot to take pictures for a little bit, so the ones we have are small in number, but we do have them. Enjoy!

The kids are so cute. As I have been getting out the baby gear and preparing for Katie's arrival (any day now,) they have been asking about and playacting around "the baby."
        Clara associates carrier car seats with "Ba-by" and today at a friend's house, she found a baby doll and carried it around like I carry her (when I can) and would go and get it when asked where the baby was.
      Little Mac got so excited to see the carrier car seat in the car, next to his seat when I put it in earlier this week and asked where the baby was. He was so excited that he is going to be sitting next to the baby.
         We had friends over a few weeks ago, with their 6 week old girl and both kids wanted to hold her and the play with her.
      The kids are of course trying to get to the baby toys and Clara does not appreciate the blankets she remembers using being put on shelves in the nursery to await Katie's arrival. I have no doubt that Clara will not appreciate Katie taking mommy's lap, Clara's favorite spot.
      For the most part, the kids anticipated reactions to their new baby sister are promising. we will post pictures and news of Katie's arrival after she arrives, but for now, we all wait and prepare and pray for a safe and healthy delivery.

I didn't manage to get the kids pictures with Santa, since they wouldn't have anything to do with him when we tried, but here are some from the evening of Christmas, as they are running around having fun. we didn't really have an outfit for Little Mac, but Clara does. They are playing with an emptied wrapping paper roll that was split in two. Enjoy!

Here are pictures from Halloween this year. Both munchkins were bumble bees. Girlie Girl's antennae were attached to her pigtails since she wouldn't keep the headband in. I forgot her wings in the second picture, but you can see them in the first. Enjoy!

It took us forever to get him in a boat initially, but the key that day was apparently a snack bag of carrots. As long as he had his carrots, he loved any and all boats and even went on the jet ski with Grandpa.

Girlie was a little harder to convince, since she really disliked the lifejacket, not that I can blame her, I avoided them as a kid a well, too bulky to move easily.

Ok, so it is past time for an update. Mac has a week and a few days until school starts up again. Little Mac and Clara are growing fast and furiously. She had her 15 mo. appointment this week. She is 23 lbs and 31.7 inches. She is growing like a weed.

In other news we went camping as a family twice this summer. Here are some pictures. As soon as I can get the others onto this laptop I will add more, but here are some cute ones of the kids from July. Little Mac is wearing my hat since I forgot his that trip.

Update! Clara is one now, and following in her brother's footsteps. She is learning that she can't get away with everything and Little Mac is learning that his sister's crib is not a toy. They are growing up so fast, I can't believe that Clara is walking and Little Mac is talking in phrases and small sentences.

Anyhow here are some photos since Christmas, sorry for the wait, our camera died and I couldn't find a way to get the pictures off of it. I had to start using my phone so some of the pictures are small and low resolution. The kids are still cute, no matter how the pictures look. Enjoy!

Random Photo Update

Hello all, sorry about the long wait. We are all doing well, Clara is almost walking and swiftly growing out of 12 mo. clothes even though she is only 10 mo. old. Little Mac is talking more and more and is finding more ways to climb to satisfy his own and Clara's curiosity by getting into things purposely put of reach. Daddy is anxiously awaiting for the end of semester so he can relax a little and work on his senior project. Mommy is looking for work to supplement savings over the summer so Daddy can do well on his senior project.

Mommy cleared out her phone and camera. Some of these photos are older than Clara, and some are recent as this last week. I don't know all the dates, but here are "current" pictures of the kiddos. The last two are the most current, but I can't guarantee the order of any of the others.

Halloween

Halloween was fun for the Sigler family. Daddy was Linus from Peanuts, Mommy was the great pumpkin and both Clara and Little Mac were part of the Sigler pumpkin patch. Daddy was busy with school, so Mommy took the kids to various trunk or treats and trick or treating on Halloween. we were able to get various free pictures, which are at the end of the post.

Clara is growing fast, already in size 3 diapers and almost to big for 3-6 mo. clothes. She is working on rolling over and sitting up. She has rolled over a few time, but not intentionally. She is a happy baby. Her face lights up when she sees someone she knows and sometimes people she doesn't know. She has recently learned to scoot on her back by arching her back and planting her feet. It is cute to watch her scoot across the floor and grab for things. She has recently learned to blow raspberries, which is really cute to watch and listen to. She also alternates between her pointer finger and thumb, sucking on them when she can't manipulate her pacifier into her mouth. She likes to grab her feet when she is on her back and pull on her socks and tights, and will enjoy being on her tummy for a little while. She wiggles and moves so much on her tummy that it is clear when she does get her knees under her, she will be off and running. (Mommy can wait for the day she has to chase two.)

Little Mac is as active as usual, and is speaking more and more. He has said things like "here you go," "coming," "go, go, go," "one, two," and "cookie." He is having a hard time understanding why he can't play with Clara things, such as the swing and the bouncer, and is still learning to share and not take toys from Clara. He enjoys playing with friends, which we see often as Mommy watch kids and attend playgroup. We also have a weekly playdate with some single girls on campus who "need" a Little Mac and Clara date. He loves to run around and is getting better at drinking from a cup without a lid and eating with silverware.

Daddy is working hard in school, and spending down time with friends to relax from his intense schedule. He just signed up for next semester classes and finished a large project for one of his classes. Mommy is trying to find more people to tutor so she can help the family and stress less over the budget, as well as enjoying tutoring. She spends her days taking care of the home and the kids and loving the progression of childhood.

July Happenings

Sorry this took so long to post, but grandma took the pictures and mommy just barely got them and got them uploaded.
on the fourth of July weekend, the weeks had a reunion in Rexburg, and with all of the family in town, we blessed Clara on the fourth. The reunion was held at Aunt Vonda's, and little Mac had fun running around and playing on the trampoline.
Daddy Mac got out of school in the third week of July, and the next week we went up to Grandma and Grandpa's for a week. The whole front of the house was cleared out and designated for Little Mac, so he wouldn't get into anything, and we spent three afternoons to evenings in a row on the water with the kayaks and the jet ski. Little Mac does not enjoy floating, but if he is distracted, he doesn't scream. he doesn't smile unless you work really hard, but he won't scream. Overall, we had a great July spent with friends and family.

Little Miss Hudini

Clara has discovered that if mommy doesn't swaddle her just right, she can get her hands free! which does her no good, since her hands are then against her cheek, so she thinks she will be fed, but they don't feed her, so she starts to cry and wakes mom from her much needed sleep earlier than needed. Here is the first time we caught her at it, but she has gotten quite good at it. (Also pics of Little Mac from his grandma Weeks visit.

Clara Judith Sigler

      Clara Judith Sigler was born on May 28th, at 8:28 am. We had been scheduled for an induction at 7:30 that same morning, and so we were ready when she decided to start contractions at 4 am. Daddy was woken up at 5, We were checking into the hospital by 6, receiving an epidural by 7:30 and Mommy started pushing at 8. She was 7lbs 11 oz, and 19 inches long. We stayed at the hospital till Saturday afternoon.
       Little Mac stayed home with a sitter and we were anxious to see him. When he first saw Clara he rocked her car seat back and forth, and "gentle Little Mac" had begun. He likes to hold her, push her away and then demand to hold her again right after pushing her away. We are still trying to find a balance in attention between and active toddler and and a cuddly little girl.
      Grandma Weeks has been a great help, with Little Mac, housekeeping and reminding Mommy not to try to do too much at once. She has been giving Little Mac lots of attention, which has helped mommy when she is too tired to play with him and care for Clara.
     Overall, things are going well, Clara is on the tail end of jaundice (sun bathing did miracles, what little sun we have had) and Mommy is slowly getting up and moving. Daddy is learning a balance between family and school work and Little Mac is learning the meaning of share, kind of.

Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there!

Today was the day I remembered that being a mother was not about being praised and pampered, its about taking care of your family and home, and reminding my family to remember their mothers who have put in all the effort already. It is hard to tell a 1 year old and a 36 week old fetus that today is Mother's Day and I deserve a day off. Especially when one is teething and one has the bigger concerns of becoming a healthy newborn before the 30th of May. Such is the life of a mother, and I realized that today is the day to honor mothers yes, but it is also the day to continue to be the mother that your children will honor and remember. The one who was willing to take care of them, before taking the day off and being pampered and lazy because they want to.

So happy Mother's Day to all of my mothers and all of the mothers who continually put forth the effort that makes this day so needed in all the year. Thank you to all of those who are working, with one child, one friend, one person at a time to make the world a happier, better place because she was there to remind each person she touched, that she loved them as only a mother can and that no matter what happens, she will be there to do what she can to prove that she loves you. Thank you mother.

Catching up

Ok, so it has been a while since I posted here. I kept telling myself that I would scan pictures and then update, but I finally realized that scanning pictures was very unlikely to happen any time soon. So major news:

- We are having a Girl (I actually knew this when I last posted, but I wanted pictures with it so I held off. They aren't the greatest pictures anyway, not compared to Little Mac's ultrasound.) She is due on the 30th of May and we are going to name her Clara Judith. The doctor says she is healthy and growing right on track. We are currently on track to get a carrier car seat (having thrown out Little Mac's when it expired) and are looking for a swing. The stroller we got at Christmas from Phil and Teds becomes a double really easy, and we are set on clothes and cloth diaper covers as well as diapers. We have a toddler bed for Mac so we can use the crib for Clara when I feel comfortable letting out of our room and Little Mac is used to sleeping in the toddler bed. As with anything else in life, there are nice baby things I would like to get, (mostly Phil and Ted's things) but we can live without, at least until Clara's older and we can better assess our need and financial standing at that point.

- Little Mac is now 15 mo. old. He is 32. 5 inches long and about 20.5 lbs. He loves to climb anything, especially if it will get him somewhere we don't usually allow him to go. This is usually on the table, or into something on top of a stack. If he can push something to allow him to climb up, that is even better, because mom and dad are usually not on the lookout for that. He climbs in and out of his highchair as well, as long as the tray is off. He is curious as ever and loves to explore everything.

- Daddy Mac just finished Winter term of his sophomore year and will officially be a junior as he starts classes in Spring Term next week. He had a full semester with challenging classes, and is looking forward to less hard classes in his load coming up.

- As for me, I am staying home with Little Mac, trying to motivate myself to get things done around the house and keep our finances straight. I subbed a few days in March and have a couple of weekly tutoring appointments. Besides that I manually update quicken to keep a better grasp on our finances and have been trying to figure out how to factor in my student loan repayments which start in May. We decided to pay down as much as we could with subsidized loans from Mac's schooling, and hopefully we will pay them off before he graduates so we don't need to worry about any interest at all on those loans. We still have a little over half of the loans left, but at least its less to worry about paying when I will be unable to find work for a while after Clara comes. Hopefully this fall I will be able to get work and make some contribution to the loans so we don't have so much to worry about.

Here are pictures from before, during and after thanksgiving. Little Mac loves to beg food from every one, and he loves the spoon, especially just after mom as been using it to eat yogurt. The Legos were at Great Grandma Bowen's. Those were the toys he played the most with. The pictures with Daddy Sigler are from after thanksgiving, when Little Mac and Mommy had returned from their trip and after Mommy had left the Mac's togeather to go to work.

For thanksgiving Little Mac, Mommy, Aunt Jessie and Grandma Weeks went to go visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Bowen. This was the first time they have seen him at all. They loved it, though I discovered that traveling with a little boy who can barely scoot and a little boy is walking are two very different things!! Keeping him out of mischief is much harder when he is in a non baby proofed home. We managed ok. He now has three teeth, though the top one hasn't made it past the very edge of the gumline yet. cut through but not grown past.
Daddy Mac is in the midst of Finals and is looking forward to Christmas Vacation. We will be spending it with Nana and Gramps (the sigler grandparents) since thanksgiving was with Grandma Weeks.

Here is Little Mac's first Halloween. He was a monkey, and he enjoyed it, after he figured out what we were doing. He would try to ring doorbells and if no one came to the door, he would start talking, as if asking mommy why no one came. It was cute.

Here is picture proof of the next little Sigler. Strong and healthy, he or she is due on the 30th of May. Mommy Leslie is doing well, just tired and ready to be able to take allergy medication again. Daddy Mac is doing well in school and is finding time to spend with family and friends whenever possible. Little Mac is growing rapidly, and is trying to figure out how to walk, you can see it whenever he stands and is trying to get to something just out of reach. He loves playing peek-a-boo and reading his cardboard books. Overall we are all doing well and working toward tomorrow and whatever it brings.

Hello all!

Baby Mac is 9mths as of Sept. 22nd, and is doing well. he is walking around furniture and begging for food. I am 23 today and Daddy Mac will be 24 later this month on the 22nd. We are going to have one birthday date sometime between these two dates.

My biggest birthday present however is from the church, since General Conference falls on my birthday this year. I always view the October Conference especially as my birthday present, since it usually falls very close or on my birthday. I love hearing the General Authorities and other leaders of the church speak to me and give guidance for my life. This morning's theme seemed to be around teaching, learning and living by the Holy Ghost, as parents and teachers. I can't wait to talk to others about it and discuss what they gained from it and to read it when it comes out in the November Ensign so I can study it and gain even more to guide my life and make me a better daughter, wife, mother and example of Jesus Christ.

We are expecting again, but I lost the calendar where I kept such records so I don't have a definite due date, but we believe it will be around the end of May or the Beginning of June. My first doctor's apt. is in November, when the ultrasound will provide a more solid due date.

Baby Mac has learned to pull himself up on objects. I think he learned it from watching the Smith Boy at church do it. I believe I will need to baby proof more drawers to keep them safe. He can now see over some obstacles in the living room, but has yet to figure out how to get over them. I am now worried about watching him closely enough to prevent disastrous falls. He has yet to learn the art of crawling backwards, which will be nice, so he can get himself out of tight spots. He had fun at church, crawling around during Relief Society and playing with the Andersons during Sacrament Meeting.

Mac and I have completed week two of P90X, and decided that the diet plan is affecting my milk supply. the nurse told me to eat more balanced since I will lose differently anyway since I am nursing the baby. I get to eat more fruit!! yea!!!! I love fruit.

Mom stopped by this weekend, just long enough to say "hi" after dropping Sarah off with our cousin Randi Lynn so she can be taken down to Provo to move into her new apartment when school starts. Maccers had fun with his Grandma and aunts.

we had some fun with a friend in Smith Park taking pictures. Here are some of the best ones out of the lot. Some are kind of goofy and there are some really good ones. Baby Mac was ok with most of it, though he did detest some of the pictures. We enjoyed ourselves and got free pictures out of the bargain.

P90X and exercise

Hey all, Mac and I have started P90X this week and we are dying. yoga X today almost killed my balancing potential. Daddy Mac now highly dislikes Downward facing Dog pose. Baby Mac is getting his exercise as well, crawling around when he is let out of his playpen by a doting mother (when I am in a good mood, with much patience). This happens about once or twice a day, when daddy is not around.

These pictures are from the trip we made east at the end of July to meet Daddy's Mac's family. Neither the baby or I had met them as of yet. There was great weather and alot of fun. the only downside was the amount of driving, but it couldn't be helped. with family in NC and MS it was drive or fly everywhere.

Ok, this is a trial. We will see how this works.
